If you are experiencing a medical emergency — chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, or any acute symptom — stop and contact emergency services. Do not use this app to diagnose or treat any condition.
Not a medical device
ZoneLab is intended for general fitness, training planning, and personal performance tracking. It is not designed, intended, or authorised for the diagnosis, cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of any disease or condition. ZoneLab is not a medical device under the meaning of the U.S. FDA, the EU MDR, or any equivalent regulation in your jurisdiction.
Heart-rate data is an estimate
Heart-rate readings used by ZoneLab — whether from Apple Watch, a paired Bluetooth chest strap, or HealthKit history — are consumer-grade measurements with inherent error. Wrist-based optical readings in particular can lag, drift, or read poorly under cold skin, tattoos, fast cadence, or vibration. The zones, AHRM totals, and VO₂ projections ZoneLab calculates inherit that error. Treat every number as a useful estimate, not a clinical measurement.
Consult a clinician before training
Before beginning any new exercise programme — including any plan generated by ZoneLab — consult a licensed physician or qualified healthcare professional. This is especially important if you:
- have a known cardiovascular, respiratory, or metabolic condition;
- are pregnant or recently postpartum;
- are recovering from surgery, injury, or illness;
- take medication that affects heart rate (e.g. beta-blockers);
- are 35 or older and have not been training regularly;
- experience symptoms during exertion — chest pain, palpitations, dizziness, undue breathlessness, or fainting.
Listen to your body
A periodised plan is a guideline, not a prescription. If a session feels wrong — abnormal fatigue, sharp pain, or symptoms that don't match the effort — stop the session, skip it, or replace it with rest. The road is the goal. You decide the intensity. ZoneLab will recalculate the week.
Use of HealthKit data
ZoneLab reads specific data from Apple HealthKit only with your explicit permission, granted in iOS Settings → Health. The app requests read access only, and never writes back to HealthKit. You can revoke any permission at any time. ZoneLab does not transmit your HealthKit data to its servers; it processes data on-device and via Apple's iCloud-encrypted Health store. ZoneLab does not sell or share health data with anyone.
Apple Health disclaimer
Apple Health and HealthKit are services of Apple Inc. ZoneLab is an independent third-party app that uses HealthKit; Apple makes no representation about ZoneLab's content, function, or accuracy. Apple's Software Licence Agreement and the terms of HealthKit apply to your use of the underlying platform.
No guarantees of result
Training response varies between individuals. ZoneLab makes no guarantee that following any plan or recommendation will produce a specific fitness, performance, weight, or health outcome. VO₂ projections are statistical models, not promises.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ZoneLab and its authors are not liable for any injury, loss, or damage arising from your use of the app, your training, or any reliance on information provided by the app. You use ZoneLab at your own risk.
